Music Degree Pathway
At HCM Music College, our mission is to help you make music every day, so you can ultimately make it your career.
We know that many of our students see themselves working in the music industry one day, so while our Music Performance Diploma and Music Production Diploma have been developed so you can enter the music business as soon as you graduate, we also offer a clear music degree pathway for those who wish to continue their music studies at university – via our London-based higher education partner, the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP London). If a music degree is the path you decide to follow after graduation from HCM Music School, we’ll support you with preparation for auditions and give you help and guidance in choosing the best course for you to progress to.
But our partnership with ICMP London goes further than this, because all HCM music diploma students are given the opportunity to attend masterclasses and workshops arranged by ICMP, as well as visit the college for experience days and special music industry events.
A GREAT TEAM
While there are many modern music institutions available to partner with, we’ve chosen ICMP London because their philosophy, music courses, facilities and approach to learning is similar to ours. Like us, they focus on a personalised approach, with small class sizes, high number of teaching contact hours, regular one-to-one support, and dynamic use of technology in the classroom.
A HANDS-ON APPROACH TO MUSIC
For over 30 years, ICMP music college has been helping musicians, songwriters, producers and music business entrepreneurs take that next step towards a long-term career in the music business. Their highly esteemed teaching faculty is made up of experienced musicians, academics, teachers and industry practitioners who’ve shaped the face of the music business and are ready to energise and inspire.
And their hands-on approach to learning really works too, with notable alumni success stories including Luke Patterson of Clean Bandit, singer-songwriter Foxes (aka Louisa Rose Allen), Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien, Ivor Novello-winning songwriter Cathy Dennis, and folk-pop band Daughter.
ICMP music college has an exclusive industry partnership with London’s Tileyard Studios – the UK’s largest professional music community. All ICMP students engage in a range of unique industry development opportunities at Tileyard, operating in the same music business environment as Mark Ronson, Tinchy Stryder, The Prodigy, John Newman, Notting Hill Music, Marathon Artists and Spitfire Audio.
