Whether you’re relatively new to the piano or have been playing keyboards for a while now, a Music Performance Diploma from HCM Ware, HCM Milton Keynes or HCM Letchworth can help you improve your playing technique and put you on the path to a career in music.
Taking a one-year Level 2 Keyboards and piano course will see you fall in love with music all over again. You’ll explore your instrument from new angles, will develop as a pianist and performer, and expand your music theory skills too. For those disappointed with their GCSEs results, it’s also a positive opportunity to retake English and/or maths GCSEs or Functional Skills while studying piano at the same time.
Studying a two-year Level 3 Keyboards and piano course is the same as taking three A-levels and is a unique approach to sixth form education, particularly for those with a passion for and interest in music. During your time with us, you’ll become a confident piano player and performer, with not only a good understanding of the way music works, but with realistic knowledge and practical experience of the music business too.
Studying a music performance Keyboards and piano course is free for UK and EU students aged 18 or under*, and funding options are available for those aged 19+ too.
When you study keyboards or the piano at HCM, you’ll cover a range of different areas to help you become a better pianist, such as:
- Improvisational skills
- Chord theory in the context of live performance
- Notation and band chart reading
- Sight reading and session skills
- Experience of working with other rhythm section players
- Music theory and knowledge
- Songs from genres including pop, rock, soul, funk and jazz, chosen to help you process the keyboard techniques you’re studying and put them into context
