HCM Ware is one of two HCM music colleges in Hertfordshire. It’s located on a site where HCM has been for over 25 years – originally a HCM retail building but turned into a dedicated education centre in 2014.
HCM Ware provides music lessons at a range of levels for children and adults aged 7 up, for instruments including guitar (both acoustic and electric), bass, drums, piano/keyboard and vocals, as well as music theory, music technology, songwriting, and Little Musicians classes for kids aged 4 to 6. The college also offers Level 2 and Level 3 music diplomas for those aged 16+ in Music Performance (Guitar, Drums, Bass, Piano/Keyboards and Vocals) and Music Production.

Music Diploma courses in Performance and Music Production at HCM Ware are delivered in partnership with Milton Keynes College and awarded by RSL; developed specifically for those looking to make music their career. Would-be guitarists, singers, drummers, bassists, pianists, songwriters and music producers will learn practical music techniques, performance skills and music theory, while developing a realistic understanding of the way the music business works, thanks to our team of inspiring teachers. HCM staff all have highly successful careers in music and remain in the music business as active music professionals and educators, dedicated to helping you develop your future career in music.
Music lessons at HCM Ware
Musical instrument lessons at HCM Ware follow the Rockschool (RSL) syllabus, with graded exams at the end of each level, from Debut right up to Grade 8. They take place every week and you can select either group or individual tuition in 30 or 45 minute sessions. Lessons are suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced students, and will be specifically designed to take your individual goals and interests into account. Whatever your skill level, our exceptional music teachers will help you learn songs, improve your technique, embellish your talents, perform confidently on your instrument… and have fun!
Music industry experience
As a HCM Ware diploma student, you’ll participate in regular activities and opportunities developed to offer you first-hand experience of today’s music business. You’ll take part in real-world events like masterclasses with world-class musicians, Q&A sessions with a wide range of music professionals, and exclusive trips and tours to music happenings and venues.
Diploma course funding
HCM Ware’s diploma courses are fully funded by the UK government for UK and EU students who are 16 to 18 years old*, and further funding options are available for those aged 19 to 23. Milton Keynes College can offer bursary help, financial support and assistance with travel costs to students on the basis of need – further information can be found at MKC Student Services.

The HCM Ware building features six fully kitted out rehearsal studios (including a dedicated drum room and digital piano studio), two impressive digital music production classrooms, a dedicated production and mixing suite, and a relaxing student lounge.
Our production facilities include Apple iMacs loaded with industry software such as Logic Pro X and Ableton Live, and throughout the building all rooms are kitted out with gear from global instrument and music names including Marshall, Vox, Line 6, Orange, Mapex, Peavey, Shure, Lewitt, AKG, ProEL and JBL, as well as digital pianos by Yamaha and drums by Yamaha DTX and Roland TD.

Marc has 25 years’ experience as a gigging musician, performing with artists such as Kim Wilde and Ben Westbeech (Brownswood Recordings), as well as working in high end function bands as a musical director, Marc has a broad range of experience as a live player.
Max TrenseMusic Diploma Lecturer
Max Trense is a songwriter, arranger, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and educator. He writes, produces, performs and promotes his own music, having released a number of singles and EPs over the years.
Roisin QuinnSenior Diploma Lecturer, Vocals
Roisin Quinn is a freelance vocalist, songwriter, arranger, educator and musical director. She holds an undergraduate music degree, a PGCE focusing on 16+ education, and a master’s degree in Songwriting.
