Stacy PlantTeaches: Drums
Stacy has been playing the drums for almost 20 years and in that time has studied with top UK drummers Steve White, Pete Riley and Darby Todd.
He played his first pro gig at the age of 14 and hasn’t stopped since, gaining support slots with a range of artists such as The Subways, The Blockheads, The Bluetones, Gemma Hayes and many more.
His main teaching focus is on playing the drums musically, technique and creativity. Stacy is a competent teacher for the complete beginner or an experienced player looking for some new ideas and direction.
How Long have you worked at HCM?
I started working at HCM during April 2014.
Please give a brief summary of your musical background and experience.
I started playing the trumpet at 6 and thanks to my Mum, I was able to attend some good afterschool music classes from a young age. At 11 I started playing the drums and I haven’t looked back!
I have been involved with bands since day one of playing, and have played all around the UK. I currently play with a couple of function bands, and a few original acts. I also dep and record for various artists and producers.
Please Describe what you do at HCM
I am a drum tutor, so I teach drums to a huge variety of students from complete beginners to established players. I teach one to one and small group lessons.
How do you inspire your students to become musicians?
By helping them to realise their goals on the instrument and (hopefully) inspiring them to practise and become better. I also like to try and educate my students on the history of drumming and how it has shaped a lot of what we call popular music.
Why do you think students should choose to come to HCM Music College?
We have a fantastic team of teachers who are very experienced in their respective specialisms and it’s a great place to come and study and have some fun.
