Thomas E. BrownDiploma Lecturer: Music Production/Guitar
Tom is a score composer, producer, musician and educator based in Hertfordshire and London. He has a High Diploma and BMus in Popular Music Performance, specialising in the guitar, as well as a Distinction-level Master’s degree in Composing for Film and Television.
Continually plying his trade as a guitarist, composer and songwriter in both studio and live environments, Tom has undertaken performances for the BBC (both radio and television) and at Google HQ for YouTube. He has lent his soulful string-noodling to electronic and urban tracks such as ‘The Journey’ (AFT Records) alongside Stamina MC, and at live jazz, blues and contemporary gigs for musicians including Miss Baby Sol and the Urban Voice Collective gospel choir.
Tom has played highly respected venues across the UK, such as The Dorchester, The Arts Club, Hideaway, Jazz Café and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club (including being part of the famous W3 house band), as well as holding a residency at The Blues Kitchen venues. He has also performed at the Hop Farm Festival alongside legendary names such as Kool & the Gang, Randy Crawford, Billy Ocean and Bob Dylan.
Tom’s main musical venture is being part of the band for British soul singer Jocee; co-writing and producing her debut album ‘Just Love’ in 2017 and 2018’s follow up release. This outfit also performs as The WAYS – a three to ten piece Motown/soul/funk function band.
Tom’s main solo focus is his motion picture composition work for film, TV and commercials, with his music appearing on a host of TV programmes globally, often blending orchestral and electronic elements. He is currently composing scores on a number of UK and international independent films, documentaries, animations and sequence dance records.
